I always thought the most controversial show I could create would be about parenting.
Ideas on parenting are usually deeply felt and often in direct opposition to each other. The moment you say babies who cry should be cuddled you offend the “let them cry it out” crowd.
Eventually I found a way to incorporate being a parent into a show that was about more interesting ideas than how to parent.
Kids These Days is a full-length performance piece that premiered in 2019 at the Mission Theater in Portland, Oregon.

Part performance, part lecture, part stand-up it explores how much the world has changed through observing my kids' experiences, unpacks why older generations historically criticize young people and ultimately points towards hope for the future.
Throughout the pandemic and after I’ve worked to make the show less specific to parenting, more focused and less episodic.
I’m eager to share the reimagined piece. It will require a space with a video project and screen, a stage with room to move and some basic lighting and sound design.
