About
In 2012 I was invited by my friend and producer Frayn Masters to be the first regular host of The Moth in Portland, emceeing the monthly StorySlam and semi-annual GrandSlam.

My job is to warm up the crowd, telling my own story, going through the rules and preparing the audience to actively listen to the storytellers with undivided attention.

Once the stories begin my job is to support the storytellers, getting them applause as they take the stage and exit and then touching on key aspects of their story or sharing my own anecdote to compliment them and create space so the audience has time to reset for the next story.

Portland has a huge storytelling community, so I’ve shared my stories at shows like BackFence PDX, The Pickathon Music Festival, 7 Deadly Sins, and Pants on Fire. And we now have several hosts and producers of The Moth so I host every few months.

All told I’ve hosted over 100 shows for the Moth, supporting 1000 stories at venues across Portland and Seattle.

I’m available to tell a story at your event, host a storytelling event, or even create a storytelling workshop or event.

I also have a book of stories.
